It's for the kids

Adults shouldn’t have all the fun. That’s why our all-new Fern Dropper Post is specifically designed with your little one in mind, taking less effort and less weight to drop that saddle and get rowdy in the dirt.

LESS EFFORT, SAME DROP

Our all-new Fern Dropper Post uses a specifically-designed cartridge to operate at lower pressures, which requires much less effort to actuate the lever and much less weight to lower the saddle.* Ideal for your little ripper to get sendy.

Versatility

They grow up fast and you may be going through shoes like PBRs on a sunny afternoon, but at least you won’t have to replace this post anytime soon. The 27.2 diameter and external cable routing means the Fern Dropper Post will fit a wide range of bikes as your kiddo gets older.

All Season reliability, tested in the mountains

all-weather reliability

Like all of our dropper posts, the Fern Dropper features bomb-proof reliability thanks to our fully-sealed internal air cartridge and robust all-weather seals. Ideal for the worst weather conditions, or being left in the yard during a storm.

EXTERNAL VS. INTERNAL CABLE ROUTING

The Fern is an externally routed dropper post, which means the cable will be secured to the outside of your bike frame. Determining what cable routing is compatible with your bike is the first step in picking dropper post compatibility.

Steps to Quickly Determine Routing Style

  1. Does your bike currently have a dropper? If so, is the cable running through the inside of the frame (internal routing) or is it secured along the outside of your frame (external)?
  2. What’s the age of your bike? Internal routing started around 2014 on high end mountain bikes and became more common on bikes after 2016 - if your bike is older than that it most likely is only compatible with external routing.
  3. Got a newer bike? Look for internal cable ports that would send the cable housing up the seat tube to the bottom of the post. Common spots for a port are towards the bottom of the seat tube, near the bottom bracket or possibly up near the head tube where your other internally routed cables enter.

How Does Travel Adjust work?

Our travel adjust system allows for a total of 30mm travel reduction in 5mm increments. If you were riding that line between travel sizes you can now fine-tune the perfect fit by following the easy directions below:

  1. Begin by lowering your dropper at or below the desired travel length (just make sure it’s not fully extended!)
  2. Unthread the midcap with your hand and slide it up to reveal the white DU Bushing.
  3. You’ll see negative numbers with corresponding notches machined into the post (each # represents decreasing travel.
  4. Slide the DU bushing up and rotate it to align the black arrow with the amount of travel you would like to reduce, then seat the arrow into the machined groove. (Make sure it’s fit securely into these notches!)
  5. After pushing the DU Bushing back down, lower the midcap and hand tighten (no need to go overboard!) and ride off into the sunset with the perfect travel for you.

FAQ

*What is the maximum and minimum weight to use this dropper post?

The minimum rider weight to actuate post is 44lbs (20kg). The maximum rider weight supported at full post extension is 110lbs (50kg).

Is this post compatible with my bike?

Because the Fern is externally routed it's compatible with a lot of frames. Next step is the measurement part! Need help determining the best dropper for you? Click here >>>

Does the post come w/ internal cable & housing?

We include our cable and housing kits with each of our levers. When you order the dropper by itself cable and housing will not be included.

How often do I need to service the post?

As riding frequency and conditions vary, we do not have a strict service interval. Instead, we recommend servicing your post if it starts to feel sticky/slows down. When it does come down to service it is a quick and easy, at home process.
